Program Description

The group Intensive English Program at WAL has new terms beginning every 5 weeks. It features seven levels. Students can learn English for academic purposes or for improved communication. Classes meet 4 hours daily, Monday through Friday. At the advanced level, there are two study programs: College Preparation helps people prepare to enter a college or university and to do well on the TOEFL; Advanced Communications offers 4 hours daily of speaking and listening practice, vocabulary development, public speaking opportunities and interviewing techniques. There are also special morning classes available including Business English, Pronunciation & Speaking, TOEFL Preparation and TOEIC Preparation. All classrooms have computers and free internet or e-mail connections. There is also a modern audio lab. Faculty have advanced degrees and training in teaching English to non-native speakers. After school, you can join in conversation partner exchanges or volunteering opportunities. Many activities are offered on weekdays and on weekends including parties, theater, ballet, professional sports games, sightseeing trips, movies, and cultural festivals. Custom programs are available if you want to study English for special purposes such as English for business e-mail communication, GMAT verbal preparation or other special courses.
