International Foundation Diploma

The NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies is a one year pre-university qualification which includes a significant amount of English language teaching. The qualification is designed to provide you with an entry route to UK, Ireland or overseas universities.

Entry Requirements • Successfully completed secondary education in an appropriate range of subjects. AND • A valid score of 4.5 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination or equivalent. Alternatively, you can take the free NCC Education Standard English Placement Test which is administered by our NCC Education Centres in accordance with Birchwater Education, to provide evidence of an equivalent level of English language.

Summer School

This course focuses on integrating the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. As the course progresses you will notice improvement in fluency and confidence in speaking English as emphasis is placed on communication skills. We use a variety of methods to increase learning potential. We blend traditional student centred teaching practices with modern language learning and assessment software. Your progress is monitored every step of the way, 24 hours a day. Our teachers track this progress improving the quality of the feedback you receive. Our teachers will know which areas you need help with ensuring the content is personalised. A placement test is carried out before the course starts to assess your level of English. Our approach ensures you master the content fully.

Trinity Integrated Skills in English

Trinity Integrated Skills in English is designed to build real life, transferable English skills required for academic purposes and employability. The essence of the ISE programme is to have the ability to interact in an authentic and meaningful way. The course achieves this through integrated reading and writing tasks and integrated speaking and listening tasks with a strong focus on real language performance. The ISE assesses the communicative skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.

This course is ideal for reaching your personal goals whether for university or work. This course is specifically designed to prepare you for all aspects of the exam to ensure your success. The IELTS exam has two formats – Academic and General. The listening and speaking modules are the same; however, the topics of the reading and writing papers differ. Courses at Birchwater Education are designed for lower level (4.5-6.0) and higher level (6.5-8.0). As well as preparing you for the exam, this course aims to increase your overall general language skills, improve your grammar usage, increase your vocabulary base and help you communicate effectively. ​ This course includes Mock exams to improve your confidence 20 hours per week tuition + at least 10 hours of homework After school communication with your teacher using our Online Learning Platform. 24hour access to all the learning materials used in class Free wifi and computer room access with the use of Rosetta Stone Language software.

Evening Business English

This course focuses on the everyday language of business and is both academic and practical. . The class is aimed at establishing and developing strong communication skills which are essential in the business environment. This is achieved though practicing real life business scenarios including presentation skills, role plays, mock meetings along with debates on current topics. This course looks at the business world though reading and writing by incorporating practice with writing professional reports, emails, and letters; reports and proposals while building on and improving sentence structures. A strong emphasis on good punctuation, paragraphing and good structure is promoted if writing is a priority. ​ This course is suitable for students who are both working or aspire to work in office administration, HR (Human Resources), management, customer service or sales/marketing roles who wish to develop their English language skills.

Cambridge FCE

Prove to future employers that you are on the road to mastering English. Achieving this qualification means you are expected to have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English. This is a logical step if you wish to study in Ireland or the UK. Includes 10 weeks tuition plus 2 weeks exam focus. Extra exam tuition can be arranged.

Cambridge CAE

This certificate is proof of high-level achievement in learning English. This shows you have developed the skills to study, work and live in English-speaking countries effectively. Includes 10 weeks tuition plus 2 weeks exam focus. Extra tuition can be arranged.
