Al-Shamal Private University is a private-non-for-profit Syrian academic institution with multiple goals and functions. It seeks to provide many educational opportunities for students according to their needs, backgrounds, and interests.

Al- Shamal Private University is a member of UNAI, Quality Matters QM, AASPH, and many other international academic organizations. Aiming towards excellence, Al-Shamal Private University (SPU) was established in 2015 in North-west Syria. SPU provides its students with curricula that conform with the academic standards and are approved by most international universities and according to the disciplines available at the university. SPU university is constantly expanding its departments and institutes.

The university offers a variety of academic programs that contribute to developing the capabilities of students to be educated and skilled individuals who can assume their responsibilities in contributing to building their societies positively and constructively.

SPU includes several applied and theoretical colleges, in addition to medical institutes. Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Arts - Department of English Language, Faculty of Political Science, Prosthodontics Institute, Medical Analysis Institute, Anesthesia Institute, Institute of Pharmacy, College Sharia & Law, Faculty of Education. New institutes include the Psychological counseling institute, Technical Monitors Institute, Turkish Language Institute, computer technical institute, Agricultural Technical Institute, Department of Women and Rural Development, English Language Institute, Institute of Administrative Sciences.
