Our Main Campus is located in the heart of downtown Toronto near the busy intersection of Yonge/Bloor. Easily accessible by subway, we are located within walking distance to the Bloor or Rosedale stations. We neighbor the Toronto Reference Library, the biggest public library in the city and the University of Toronto, one of the most prestigious universities in Canada. Surrounding our campus is the chic upscale Yorkville area, and the always-exciting Yonge Street. Our second campus is located in North York Centre, right next to the North York subway station. Close by is the North York Public Library, plus many excellent public facilities. Across the street is a large entertainment complex housing shops and a large movie theatre.
Established in 1994, McDonald International Academy (MIA) is a fully registered and accredited secondary school inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training. The school offers a wide variety of subjects; each with a stimulating curriculum taught by highly qualified, experienced, professional educators who help our students succeed - not only in our school, but also in the post-secondary education they choose after graduating from McDonald. We employ the latest pedagogical methods and technological aids to provide students with superior educational opportunities.McDonald International Academy offers a comprehensive ESL program designed to cover all the prerequisites necessary to master the English language. Students may choose one of our 3 different programs (Intensive, Semi-Intensive, Summer/Winter Program) to find the one that best suits their needs and interests. Intensive Program offers 5 hours daily per week of ESL studies. Mornings consist of 4 hours of our ESL fundamentals class that teaches students vocabulary, reading, writing, grammar, and oral skills. In the afternoon, students choose an elective course based on their learning preferences. They can choose one of the following courses - Grammar and Writing, Conversation and Listening, TOEFL Preparation.Semi-Intensive Program offers 4 hours daily per week of ESL studies. Students will be placed in our ESL fundamentals class that teaches all the skills required to obtain English language proficiency such as vocabulary, reading, writing, grammar, and oral skills. Summer/Winter Program is a special ESL program that blends in-class learning with fun daily activities in Toronto and its surrounding areas. In the mornings, students attend ESL fundamentals course and in the afternoon and weekends, students go on activities that are not only fun, but reinforce lessons taught in class. This program runs for 4 weeks during the summer and winter months. The program begins on the first day of every January, February, July and August.
