CVIC is located in the refurbished historic center of the City of Courtenay in the Comox Valley. The Valley fronts on Georgia Strait (Pacific Ocean) and ends at the Beaufort Mountains in the west. All ammenities such as public library, museum, bus depot, theaters (Live and Movie), shopping, indoor and outdoor recreation centers are within a ten minute walk from the school. The Comox Valley offers almost every outdoor activity imagineable. From an International Ski resort to a championship par 72 public golf course (one of ten courses) there is something here for everyone and you will never get bored. The Valley also borders on one of the oldest and largest wilderness parks in Canada with kilometers of maintained hiking/biking trails as well as unlimited wildlife viewing opportunities. This is why the Comox Valley is known as the recreation capital of Canada! The Valley is (25) minutes by plane from Vancouver or Victoria.
CVIC offers five levels of English from beginner to advanced. When you arrive you will be tested and placed in the most suitable course level. Our full-time intensive course is (120) hours per month. Our part-time course (mornings only) is (60) hours per month. Each class is custom designed to suit your needs. In the afternoon you may participate in elective courses such as TOEFL/TOEIC exam preparation, pronunciation, community volunteering, understanding the media, Canadian culture & etiquette, language required for travel, to name a few. You may register for any number of terms you wish.
Although all types of housing are available we strongly recommend you take advantage of our Homestay. Homestay is administered directly by our school and is maintained as a premium program. Each family is thoroughly checked, interviewed, and homes inspected so that we are sure you will be safe and comfortable....
