UCAELI is based at the University of Connecticut, the leading public university in scenic New England. The program is based at UConn's main campus in Storrs, CT, which is relatively close to various cities in the U.S., including Boston, Providence and New York City.
Our Mission is to provide our students with quality language instruction to help them to achieve their personal and professional goals; to maximize our students access to UConns educational and cultural resources; to assist our students in their transition to mainstream academic courses; to promote the benefits of cultural diversity brought by our students to the UConn campus; and finally, to serve as a resource center supporting other university departments and offices with customized language training and cross-cultural education projects.

A caring, knowledgeable student services staff provides on-going academic advising; assitance with college applications; immigration advising; cultural adjustment counseling; setting up internet service; opening a banking account; obtaining a banking account; obtaining a drivers license or social security card; and many other personal needs such as obtaining specialized medical care.
Core Courses: Listening/Speaking, Reading/Writing, and Grammar/Communication. Electives may also be integrated into a students schedule. TOEFL Preparation and Pronunciation are offered each session. Other electives may include: Idioms, English through Music, Film, Current Events, Business English, Community Service, Response to Literature, Academic Skills, Presentation Skills, Internet English, Discussion Strategies, Grammar Games, and Connecticut Exploration.
The UCAELI experience goes far beyond classroom study. Students can enjoy a myriad of activities, performances and special events constantly taking place. UConn offers 250+ student organizations; 5 cultural centers; Jorgensen Auditorium for Performing Arts and Connecticut Repertory Theater; museums of art and science; national champion basketball teams; 500-seat movie theater; state of the art recreational facilities and more!
