North Park University ESL Program

Description

Our 15-week acaemic ESL program is designed to prepare students for future studies in an American university setting. Upon successful completion of the Academic ESL Program, students who have already been accepted into a North Park University or Seminary program may enroll full-time in that program. Classes meet 18 hours per week. The advanced ESL classes fulfill North Park's foreign language requirement. Up to 8 semester hours may be applied toward graduation.

Student Services

Services include airport pickup, academic and cultural orientation, field trips, use of all campus facilities (pool, gym, fitness centers, computer lab, library, chapel, and intramural sports), International Students Association, Korean Club, Latino-American Student Organization, and numerous social and cultural events both on- and off-campus.

Additional Services

North Park offers a conversation partners program, visits to mainstream classes, and tutors. Four cultural centers--African-American, Korean, Latino, and Scandinavian--add to the rich academic experience. Students are conditionally admitted to the college and move into undergraduate and graduate programs upon completion of the ESL Program without needing a TOEFL score.

Other Programs

The American Studies Program, offered in the summer, combines ESL with seminars on selected topics about American Culture.
