Near the heart of suburban Towson, the 306 acre, beautifully landscaped and wooded campus is convenient to stores, theaters, malls, restaurants and many other local attractions. Towson University is located eight miles north of downtown Baltimore and one hour from Washington, D.C. Baltimores major attractions include: the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, the Baltimore Zoo, the Lyric Opera House, Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, the Walters Art Gallery and the Baltimore Museum of Art, Fells Point, the Inner Harbor, Camden Yards Baseball Stadium, plus theaters, historic sites, and much more.
The English Language Center at Towson University focuses on academic English to prepare students to study in U.S. universities or to develop their English skills for employment purposes. Students receive 24 hours of instruction per week in small lasses that average 12-15 students. Social activities, computer -assisted instruction, conversation partners, and TOEFL preparation courses are also available through the program.

The ELC has a computer lab, listening center and lending library which provide students with extra learning materials for all skill areas. There are several orientations throughout the semester including a general program orientation plus health, safety, and cultural adjustment orientations. ELC students have access to all on campus facilities and services including the gym, climbing wall, library, tennis/racquetball/squash courts, Career Center, Health and Counseling Centers, pool, and student advising.
ELC students have full use of all campus facilities (including pool, climbing wall, tennis/raquetball courts) and are provided advisory assistance when making university applications. Students may also join campus social clubs. International Admissions and the International Student and Scholar Office are both available to assist students on campus.
A TOEFL preparation course is offered in addition to the regular program; short-term programs for groups and classes for local immigrant population are also available.
