Goal Training Educational Center is located in Skokie, IL, only 20 minutes from downtown Chicago. The area is famous for its cultural heritage and diversity and is a safe and quiet place to concentrate on your studies.
The American Cultural Studies program will offer a unique opportunity for study. Our courses bring together ideas from many academic fields and disciplines including, but not limited anthropology, art history, environmental studies, history, literature, economics, sociology and gender and ethnic studies. Our courses use ideas from these and other disciplines to examine the significance of the American experience for peoples in the USA. Class discussions raise questions about the American dream and about the lived experience of American democracy which has renewed relevance in the post 9/11 context. American Studies students also look outside of the classroom to answer these questions, by going on study-tours of sites of significance in the Chicagoland area. The selection of American Cultural Studies-related courses displayed herein describes the range of courses of study open to students at Goal Training Educational Center. Completing the full range of courses in the American Cultural Studies program will prepare students to enter the American work force with a comprehensive understanding of the cultural history which has led us to our contemporary lifestyles.
