The University of Utah, home to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, is located in the state's capital city. From its vantage point on the foothills of the snow-capped Wasatch Mountain range, the University looks west over the Great Salt Lake. Salt Lake City is situated at the "crossroads of the west." A wide variety of recreational and cultural activities from live theater, concerts, and a major film festival to winter skiing and summer hiking, are available close by. Utah's fine, light, powder snow attracts skiers from all over the world.
The English Language Institute offers 6 levels of proficiency from high-beginning to advanced. Levels 1 through 3 concentrate on preparatory academic skills; in levels 4 through 6 attention is given to language skill development across the curriculum, including content courses. Courses range from content: United States History, American Literature, Debate, Drama, Intercultural Communication to ESP courses: English for Business, Research and Technical Writing. EFL teacher training workshops are offered once a year.
