Welcome to Concordia University’s Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP)! We prepare international students for full participation in university-level degree programs by speeding up their English language learning and fluency and by developing their strategies for successful academic discourse and cultural competence. When students have completed AIEP, they will be ready for one of the many majors and degree programs available at Concordia University Irvine.
We meet our students at the airport and help them get settled on campus, where they have access to all university facilities and services, including housing, the dining hall, health services, the library, Internet access, computer labs, exercise facilities, and student clubs! Concordia is just minutes from Disney World, the beach, and virtually every kind of international food! Better yet, Concordia is in Irvine, California, one of the safest cities in the United States!
AIEP has five sessions per year, each lasting seven weeks: two in the fall, two in the spring and one in the summer. These short sessions allow our students to progress through the levels at a faster pace. Students have 24 hours of class per week, with weekends off to allow for participation in university and community activities.
New students take the AIEP Placement Exam to determine their level: Extensive Reading & Listening, Intensive Reading, Writing, Conversation, Grammar.
