The English Language Center is located on the main campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, which is conveniently located just minutes from Virginia Beach and within a few hours’ drive of major cities such as Washington, DC and New York City.
The English Language Center (ELC) at Old Dominion University is an intensive English program designed to help students reach their personal, academic, and professional goals. The ELC offers six levels of English for beginner to advanced students. In each level there are four courses: grammar, listening/speaking, reading/vocabulary, and writing. Each courses meets 5 hours a week. We have six sessions each year. The fall and spring sessions last 7 weeks and the summer session sessions last 6 weeks.

Students enrolled in the English Language Center are able to participate in different programs including: -Conversation partner program -TOEFL Prep Course -GRE Prep Course -Extracurricular events -MET Program
The MET program offers ELC students a direct way to meet English proficiency requirements for most academic programs at Old Dominion University without the need to pass the TOEFL or IELTS.
