Start college before you start college!
When you enroll at the English Language Institute, you immediately become part of Jacksonville State University. As soon as you step onto the attractive campus, your student ID card gives you access to housing, dining, health services, sports and entertainment events, and other university services. You will have excellent opportunities to experience American culture and to get to know other students on “the friendliest campus in the South” in sunny Alabama.
The heart of your experience will be the English Program. Our goal is to prepare you for successful university study. The Institute is located in a newly-renovated building and is equipped with the latest technology, including smartboards and two new computer labs. In classes of 12 or fewer students, our professors will lead you through an intensive curriculum that includes:
•22 hours per week of core ESL skills in Listening, Speaking, Pronunciation, Reading, and Writing
•4 hours of electives (TOEFL/IELTS Preparation, Public Speaking & Conversation, Cinema & Cultural Analysis, U.S. History, Conversation Partners)
•3 hours of our special course "Introduction to JSU", where you will visit university classes, meet international students who have successfully made the transition from language student to college student, and participate in university events and activities. Beyond campus there will be trips to Atlanta and Birmingham, festivals, picnics, museums, amusement parks, and other adventures. Conditional admission
