The peaceful, university town of Athens, Ohio, is located on a winding river in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian mountains, surrounded by a national forest and five state parks.
Ten weeks with 200 hours of instruction plus assigned and optional computer, reading, and audio/video lab hours, weekly general information lectures, and meetings with language partners. Four levels of full time English; three levels of part-time English. Part-time students, regardless of admissions status, are allowed to take one or two academic classes.
Most OPIE students are required to live in dormitories where they can interact with native speakers. Married students and graduate students may live in apartments. Two housing facilities for married students.
