Affordable, High-Quality English Instruction
The Intensive English Program (IEP) at North Carolina State University is a full-time, non credit academic program. Students learn the academic, cultural, and technological skills for smooth transitions to university and professional success. Intermediate through Advanced levels of instruction are offered. Students have access to academic tutoring and activities at no extra cost.

Fall/Spring 15 week semester
In the NC State IEP's Fall and Spring semesters, students take up to 25 hours per week of instruction. Courses include:
Conversation and Presentation Skills Listening and Note-taking Skills for University Lectures Academic Reading and Vocabulary Development Academic Writing and Advanced Grammar Usage *American Life and University Culture (for new students)
Three levels of proficiency are offered: Intermediate, High-Intermediate, and Advanced.
Students must demonstrate a minimum level of English proficiency to join this program.

Summer 10 week program

Due to the intensive nature of this program, it is recommended for returning students only. New students should email iep@ncsu.edu to discuss the appropriateness of this program for them.
Housing Options
On-Campus Residence Hall
$3010 per semester double occupancyOn-campus housing is only available to those IEP students who have been conditionally admitted to NC State. Rooms come furnished and cost is inclusive of utilities. The cost of single rooms will be higher.
