Pittsburg State University's Intensive English Program is dedicated to educating and instilling in its students the English reading, listening, speaking, writing, and grammar to succeed not only in a university classroom, but beyond in professional and everyday life. Through quality classroom instruction and cultural activities, the IEP program provides opportunities for students to have a true American experience. IEP is a full-time program featuring four eight-week sessions during the academic year and one eight-week session during the summer. Classes are offered at five levels, from elementary to advanced. The PSU Intensive English Program is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA).
The Pittsburg State University Intensive English Program provides a variety of specific language and cultural services to international students. The main objectives of the IEP are to raise students' English language level through quality classroom instruction and to prepare students to pursue their academic degree programs at Pittsburg State University. Furthermore, the IEP strives to provide opportunities for students to experience and learn about American culture.
The IEP is a full-time program featuring four eight-week sessions during the academic year and one eight-week session during the summer. Students spend approximately 20 hours per week in class, taking courses in grammar, reading, listening/speaking, writing, and academic preparation. The program is flexible, and every effort is made to meet individual student needs.
The successful completion of the highest level of the Intensive English Program (Academic Preparation Course) is the equivalent of a 550 TOEFL score and can be substituted for the TOEFL requirement.
The PSU Intensive English Program is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA).

This four-week all-inclusive Summer Short Term English Program on the beautiful campus of Pittsburg State University will enhance your learning of English as a second language in a total immersion of both language and culture. The fun and friendly staff make this a great opportunity to improve your English language skills, experience American culture, and make friends from all over the world!
Participants will have about 3 hours of English classes per weekday, weekly workshops on various topics, evening social activities and planned cultural field trips on the weekends. In addition, participants will stay on campus in the university dormitories and can enjoy all the campus amenities.
We welcome anyone who has the desire to learn or improve their English skills...students who have completed high school, students studying at university, professionals in the workforce, or the person looking for a short-term study abroad experience.
This is a non-credit recreational English program.
