Excel English Institute offers three intensive programs, four elective courses, and a customized class program for non-native speakers of English to achieve their specific language proficiency goals. Intensive Programs Excel’s intensive programs are all 18 hours per week. Students are able to choose from three ESL programs to develop their English proficiency in order to succeed in their academic or professional endeavors. • Intensive English Program Our premier program is the Intensive English Program. This ESL program is divided into three levels of instruction – Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level is divided into six 4-week sections. Within each section, students take courses in grammar, writing, reading, and listening and speaking, which are designed to help students develop proficiency to communicate with American speakers both orally and in writing. The goal of this program is to help students advance academically and professionally. Each session is comprised of 72 hours of classroom instruction. A placement test is given to determine an entering student’s proficiency level. The program is designed to be completed in 6-18 months. • TOEFL Test Preparation Program For students who aspire to enter a university, Excel offers a TOEFL Test Preparation course. This three-month course is designed to provide strategies and coaching to achieve optimal scores on the TOEFL test. Our TOEFL students are tested regularly to determine which areas of study need additional attention in order to maximize test results. The program is divided into three 4-week sections, which may be taken independently. • Business English Program The Business English Program is a three-month course designed for students with advanced proficiency who desire to become more fluent and confident and help increase their career prospects. The course reflects latest trends in business and helps students encounter American business culture, develop grammar skills to be successful in the American business environment, and develop the communication skills needed to thrive in an American professional workplace.

• Accent Reduction Program Excel offers Accent Reduction classes for those who wish to improve their pronunciation and articulation skills. This elective program is designed to enhance English speaking and articulation skills and build confidence in producing and understanding standard American English pronunciation while targeting common pronunciation challenges. This program is divided into six 4-week sections, which may be taken independently. Students will complete the entire program in six months.

Elective Courses Excel’s elective courses are all 3 hours per week of classroom instruction and 12 hours per 4-week session. Students can choose from four programs designed to increase a student’s fluency and proficiency. • Pronunciation and Conversation Excel’s Pronunciation and Conversation Program has three distinct levels designed to help Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced studentsto speak more clearly, confidently, and accurately. Each level has three 4-week sections. The course covers important topics from all aspects of pronunciation – sounds, stress, rhythm, and intonation. Activities will give students opportunities to improve their pronunciation and communication skills in context. • Idioms, Expressions, and Fluency This conversationally-oriented program helps students encounter high-frequency American English idioms and expressions. The program has three distinct levels to accommodate Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced students. Each level consists of three 4-week sections. The program is designed to help students improve listening and speaking skills and develop effective communication in English. • Ted Talks The Ted TalksProgram develops essential knowledge and skills for learners to succeed in today’s global society. This course teaches core academic language skills and incorporates current and relevant themes and skills such as global awareness, information literacy, and critical thinking.This three-month course is for students with advanced level proficiency.

Customized Class Program Excel will create a customized class modeled after one of our intensive or elective curriculum to meet the specifications of a group of students. The meeting time, duration, and focus of these classes can be modified to suit the group’s needs and preferences. The fees for this class will vary depending on the number of participants and the hours of instruction.
