ESL Morning Program

The objective of the ESL Reading, Vocabulary, Grammar (RVG) course is to develop fundamental reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar skills. This course will introduce students to reading comprehension exercises and develop necessary writing skills. This course is also intended to increase student vocabulary and develop recognition of grammar structures. This course will introduce and develop student abilities to demonstrate beginning ESL skills necessary for progression through the ESL program at ACE.

The objective of the ESL Listening, Speaking, Conversation (LSC) course is to develop and employ fundamental listening, speaking, pronunciation skills for enhancing and demonstrating communicative abilities in English. This course is designed for students to interact with various topics, using expressions, vocabulary, pronunciation techniques, and proper grammar in speaking as well as developing the ability to listen for information.

The program is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 12:36 PM.

Afternoon Conversation Program

The Conversation Program was designed in order to accommodate Intermediate to Advanced Level students who have grasped the fundamental concepts of English and wish to improve on their fluency and speaking skills. The Afternoon Conversation Program starts at 1:10 PM and ends at 5:10 PM. Conversation Intermediate covers 3 sessions for 5 days a week: Conversation Management and Accent Reduction (CMAR), Idioms, and Listening and Speaking. Conversation Advanced covers 3 sessions for 5 days a week: Conversation Management and Accent Reduction (CMAR), Idioms, and Discussion.

The objective of the ESL Conversation Conversation Management and Accent Reduction (CMAR) course is for students to be able to demonstrate communicative abilities through accent reduction principles, and communicative strategies of expressing ideas, opinions, and facts based on topics covered throughout the curriculum.

The objective of the ESL Conversation Idioms course is for students to be able to use idioms and informal expressions in English conversation. Through classroom instruction, the objective is for students to be able to confidently recognize, practice, and demonstrate a competent use of idioms and informal speech into English conversations on a daily basis.

The objective of the ESL Conversation Intermediate Listening & Speaking course is to develop and build confidence in student listening, speaking, and conversational abilities. This course is designed to elicit conversational dialogues on various topics and enhance listening comprehension abilities, while expressing ideas, opinions and connecting personal experiences to topics covered in the curriculum.

The objective of the ESL Conversation Advanced Discussion course is to develop and build confidence and demonstrate and advanced level of fluency in comparison to intermediate levels of accuracy and fluency in student listening, speaking, and conversational abilities. This course is designed to elicit conversational dialogues on various topics and enhance listening comprehension abilities, while expressing ideas, opinions fluently and connecting personal experiences to topics covered in the curriculum.

2.5 Day Conversation Program

The 2.5 Day Conversation Program was designed in order to accommodate Intermediate to Advanced Level students who have grasped the fundamental concepts of English and wish to improve on their fluency and speaking skills. The 2.5 Day Conversation Program schedule will depend on which level the student places. Intermediate Students will have classes during Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday will be whole day sessions (8:30 AM - 5:10 PM) while the Friday session will be a half day session (1:10 PM - 5:10 PM). Advanced students will have classes during Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday and Wednesday will be whole day sessions (8:30 AM - 5:10 PM) while the Friday session will be a half day session (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM).

TOEFL iBT Test Preparation

The objective of the TOEFL iBT Test Preparation course is to prepare students to take the practice TOEFL iBT tests and eventually the official TOEFL iBT test for admission or transfer to an accredited college, which requires students to provide a TOEFL test score that meets the particular requirements for enrollment in that educational institution. This test preparation course introduces, develops, enhances, and demonstrates the reading, writing, listening, and speaking portions of the TOEFL iBT test. Students take practice tests throughout the course to prepare for the linguistic skills of the TOEFL iBT test. This course provides students with the confidence and linguistic functions required to achieve satisfactory scores on the TOEFL iBT test.
