The University of North Carolina Wilmington is a wonderful place to learn English! Located approximately 8 kilometers from Wrightsville Beach and the historic downtown Cape Fear Riverwalk, UNCW’s beautiful location, small city environment, and year-round warm temperatures provide an ideal place for international students to experience American culture.
The UNCW ESL Program offers fall, spring, and summer courses with 5-week, 8-week, or 16-week options. Students engage in 20 hours of English instruction each week, and participate in local excursions and social activities every weekend. Students can choose to live in campus dormitories with American roommates or live with an American family in a homestay. The ESL Program also arranges conversation partners and friendship families so students can practice their English outside of the classroom. The UNCW ESL Program is CEA accredited and offers conditional admission to UNCW degree programs for students who successfully complete the Advanced Level 4 curriculum.
