Pitzer College is located in Claremont, a suburb, 35 miles east of Los Angeles, California. Claremont is home to Claremont Colleges, a consortium of highly selective, private, liberal arts colleges offering B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. The colleges are situated on adjoining campuses and include Pomona, Scripps, Harvey Mudd, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Claremont Graduate School.

The program develops students' university-level English proficiency while fully immersing them in college life. Intensive, primarily theme-based courses promote rapid acquisition of academic English skills through 22 hours of instruction/week, challenging individual assignments, and social opportunities on campus. Advanced students may take a combined load of English and credit university classes.
